Memories from Lebanon

Together with my colleague Diana VoLovei we created this short audio documentary as part of the Digital Storytelling module in DIT. The main challenge was to pick an interesting topic that could be covered adequately enough in the tight time frame. We chose to tell the story of Diana’s neighbour, Sargent Dermot Moore, who served for four years in the Irish peacekeeping forces during Lebanon’s civil war.

I hope you listen to the whole piece – there is something deeply shocking (and sad) halfway into the story, which we only heard of for the first time as the interview was taking place.

Ambiance Soundtrack

Our brief for this assignment for the Digital Media Tools module in DIT was to create a musique-concrete* audio piece. Instead of using found sound I produced all the various pieces of audio with the Nintendo Electroplankton game first and then I mixed them in Reaper to achieve the ambiance water sound I wanted. I edited the final piece in Audacity. I hope you enjoy it!

Edited: to add I actually find it very relaxing now two years later and I listen to it all the time!
